Children learn by speaking, not tapping

In Lumi Kids, Lumi the owl really talks with your child. Your child speaks into the microphone, Lumi answers instantly, corrects gently and hands out stars. The app guides in Turkish and teaches English or German.

What makes it different

A patient friend who listens back

Most apps ask a child to tap the right box. Lumi Kids asks them to speak: Lumi poses a question, listens, and answers while the child is still talking — like a real conversation.

  • Full-duplex: your child can interrupt Lumi mid-sentence; no waiting for a turn.
  • Gentle correction: mispronunciation is never punished — Lumi simply repeats the word slowly.
  • Instant reward: every correctly spoken word earns a star on the spot.
  • Turkish safety net: if the child gets stuck, Lumi switches to Turkish, hints and tries again.
  • Nothing is recorded: live audio is processed in real time and never stored.

Rewards

Stars are earned by working, spent on play

Instead of rewarding screen time we reward learning. Children earn stars from exercises and from talking with Lumi, then spend them on mini games or on decorating Lumi’s room.

  • Each mini game costs 3 stars — one game a day is always free.
  • Games only use words the child has actually studied, so playing is revision too.
  • Games unlock in sequence: at 1, 12 and 25 earned stars.
  • A lasting reward: Lumi’s room with 16 items. Decorations never disappear.
  • For ages 4–5 the games run slower and with fewer items.

Parent zone

You stay in control

The parent zone sits behind a multiplication question or a PIN you set. Children cannot walk in on their own.

  • Daily talk limit: 5–60 minutes (20 by default). Time only runs during live conversation.
  • Weekly report: minutes spoken, exercises finished, stars and words learned.
  • Up to 4 child profiles: each with its own language, age and progress.
  • One-tap deletion: “Delete all data” removes profiles and progress from the server too.
  • No ads, no outbound links, no social features. The child cannot leave the app.

Frequently asked questions

Anything else on your mind? Write to hello@lumikids.live

Which language does the app speak to my child in?

The app guides and explains in Turkish, and teaches English or German. It is built for Turkish-speaking families — including families living in Germany whose children are learning German.

My child knows no English at all. Is that a problem?

No. The first level is designed for absolute beginners: single words, short sentences and a lot of repetition, with all instructions in Turkish.

What ages is it for?

Ages 4–9. No reading required — everything is spoken and illustrated. For profiles aged 4–5 the games run slower and with fewer items.

Is my child’s voice recorded?

No. During a live conversation audio is processed in real time and never stored or archived. The app asks for no account, e-mail or phone number. See the Privacy Policy.

Are there ads or surprise purchases?

No ads at all. Purchases live only inside the parent zone, behind a multiplication question or your PIN — there is no buy button a child can reach.

Subscription or one-off?

No subscriptions. Minute packs are one-off purchases that never expire, and any pack permanently unlocks all 8 worlds.

Does it work offline?

Lessons, voices, games and reviews all work offline — they ship with the app. Only the live “Talk to Lumi” conversation needs a connection.

How do I limit screen time?

In the parent zone you set the daily live-talk limit between 5 and 60 minutes (20 by default). When it runs out Lumi says goodbye kindly and the child continues with lessons.

How many children can use it?

Up to 4 profiles per device, each with its own language, age, stars and progress. Purchased minutes are shared across the device.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone and iPad on iOS 17 or later. An Android version is on the roadmap — join the list and we’ll tell you.
