Lumi Kids is an iPhone and iPad app where children aged 4-9 learn a language by having a real, live, two-way voice conversation with Lumi, a purple owl. The child speaks into the microphone, Lumi answers instantly, corrects gently and hands out stars for every word said correctly. The app explains in the family's own language (16 home languages are supported), and your child can learn any of 11 target languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Chinese (Traditional), Portuguese, Arabic and Turkish. There is no account, no advertising and no subscription.

Who is Lumi?
Lumi is the app's mascot, a purple owl. Lumi asks the child questions, listens to the answer, corrects mispronunciation without punishing it, and awards a star for every word spoken correctly. Lumi's voice is a real studio recording in the language being learned; Lumi's guidance is spoken in the family's own language.
Which languages does it teach?
Your child can choose and learn any of these 11 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Chinese (Traditional), Portuguese, Arabic and Turkish. Lumi's own guidance is given in the family's home language — 16 home languages are supported in total. The target language can be changed later, and progress is kept separately per language.
Curriculum: 4 levels, 72 islands
The journey has four levels: Tohum (“Seed”, pre-A1), Filiz (“Sprout”, pre-A1), Fidan (“Sapling”, A1) and Ağaç (“Tree”, A2) — 72 islands in total. Each level ends with a test and a certificate. The first level is free in every language; the following levels unlock permanently with any talk-minute pack.
Parent controls
- A parent zone protected by a PIN or a multiplication question.
- A daily limit on live talk time that you set.
- A weekly report: talk time, exercises finished, stars and words studied.
- Live conversation stays off until a parent turns it on.
- No account, no ads, no subscription, no tracking.
Where we stand on privacy
